Defaqto’s adviser publications accredited by the IFP for Continuing Professional Development

Independent financial research company Defaqto’s publications are now recognised as contributing to the continuing professional development of investment advisers, financial planners and paraplanners by the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP).

Defaqto issues a range of free publications for advisers, which are focused on helping intermediaries stay informed and up-to-date on key regulatory changes, industry movements, product trends and macro-economic factors.

Defaqto is delighted that these publications are now formally recognised and accredited by the IFP as a source of continuing professional development for its members, including those who are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM (CFP) professionals.

Sue Leech, the IFP’s Education Director, commented:

“We welcome the addition of high quality learning materials, such as those provided by Defaqto, into the range of options we have accredited for use by IFP members. Maintaining appropriate CPD is the hallmark of a professional, and I am sure that IFP members will value the addition of these publications which will help them to keep their knowledge and information up to date.”

Simon Thomas, Defaqto’s Insight Manager, said:

“Continuing professional development has always been good practice, but in recent years the Retail Distribution Review has brought it new prominence.  Through our publications for advisers we aim to highlight key issues and challenges impacting on financial advice - and provide industry insight and practical guidance to help advisers navigate them.  We are delighted that the IFP has recognised the tangible benefit that our publications offer advisers, and the contribution they can make towards their ongoing development.”

Defaqto’s publications for advisers cover a broad range of topic areas. Recently published publications have focused on the following areas:

  • Platforms
  • Discretionary management
  • Income generating funds
  • Multi-manager
  • Personal pensions
  • Annuities
  • Critical Illness
  • Fund-related case studies – for example, on managed portfolio services, income fund diversification, income generating funds and strategic bond funds
